1st Denmead Scout Group is a large group of over 145 members providing scouting for boys and girls from 6 years to 18 years old.
The Group consists of a team of Leaders and Helpers for each Section who are responsible for running the weekly meetings and training and experience programmes for the members. All Leaders and Helpers are fully trained, monitored and checked in line with the requirements of the Scout Association and the Criminal Records Bureau.
The Group is part of the Waterlooville District and the Scout County of Hampshire.
All sections meet at the group’s headquarters in Kidmore Lane, Denmead. The building is owned by the Group Council and is administered by the Group Executive committee. The building is hired to the ‘Busy Bees’ playgroup during the day and the Scout Shop every second Saturday in the month.
Our HQ is available for hire for Scout and Guide groups. The field, owned by Denmead Parish Council is available for hire for camping and the HQ is suitable for Pack Holidays. See the HQ Hire page.
Subscriptions are collected via Direct debit. Currently the cost is £30 per child per term. The money covers the annual Scout Association membership fee, including insurance, and the running expenses of each section. A portion also goes to the group, district and county. Please note that all leaders and committee members are volunteers and give their time for free.
There is an Executive Committee which is responsible for conducting the administration for the Group including all matters relating to the efficient financial running of the Group, fund-raising, and maintenance of the Headquarters in support of the Leaders.
Together the Leaders and the Executive Committee form a body called the Group Council and the mixture of Scouting and non-Scouting members ensures a good balance of Group needs, Scout Association requirements, local and national legislation and providing Scouting for all at an affordable price.
We are totally dependent on the dedication of our Leaders and Helpers, without which the Scout Group would not exist. These volunteers give their time freely so we can continue the spirit of Scouting in Denmead. We always need additional help so please contact us today!
AIM OF SCOUTING
Since its formation in 1907 by Robert Baden-Powell the aim of Scouting has remained constant – to promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities.

For many years we have been very fortunate to be supported in our efforts to maintain and improve our HQ from both Denmead Parish Council and Winchester City Council. They have provided advice, guidance and grants to help us in our efforts. Their help is an invaluable contribution to our Group. The representatives are all local to Denmead.
