Santa round the Village
Sunday 20th December. Denmead Scout Group has been running this for many years now and it has become a very popular event for the children of Denmead on the Sunday before Christmas. We need Beavers,Cubs, Scouts and Explorers plus any parents to travel round with the sleigh collecting money for charity, either in uniform or dressed as elves etc. We leave the village centre at 4.30pm and finish at approx 6.30pm at the White Hart.

Homeless rucksack project
As a group this year, we are planning to collect rucksacks and fill them with useful items for the homeless as part of a larger project being run in Portsmouth. We would like all our members to try to contribute items. Click here to see the items that are needed: Homeless Rucksack Project
Please send them along to your child’s meeting before November 15th so that we can assemble them.

As you probably know, 8 of our young people took part in international events this summer, 4 attending the world Scout Jamboree in Japan and 4 attending a camp in Iceland. The costs were all covered by fundraising activities by the young people themselves and the group. Photos and reports will be on our website soon so you can see what they did. We want all our members to have the opportunity to attend international events, so the executive committee have launched an international fund to help with future events. There are a couple of ongoing fundraising projects that you can all help with:

Easy fundraising
This is a way of raising funds for the group whenever you shop online. It costs you nothing but gives us money. I will send out a separate email with more information about how this works
Clothing bank
We have a clothing bank in the car park which is well used and we are earning on average £50 per month sending off bags of clothes. Please send in clothes, shoes and bags to help us raise even more.

Leaders and helpers
We currently have a great team of leaders and helpers. However, inevitably people move on so we are always looking for extra people to help out either as a leader, helper or committee member. If you would like to get involved then please either talk to your child’s leader, contact me or check out the FAQs on our website: Recruitment flyers. The beavers and Cubs also run a parent helper rota, so please sign up to help for at least one evening as this really helps.
Don’t forget to check out the rest of our website for the latest latest meeting time and programmes.

Thank you for reading down this far! Any questions please give me a call or contact me via my GSL email
